Referral & Bulk Billing
A medical referral from your GP or Specialist is required where Medicare benefits are being claimed for an echocardiogram. Bulk Billing is available for eligible patients where Medicare requirements are met.
Cardiologist-Reviewed Reports
Following your echocardiogram, the study is reviewed and reported by an experienced Cardiologist. Final reports are generally returned to the referring practitioner within 24-48 hours, with urgent findings communicated promptly where appropriate.


What to Expect at Your Echocardiogram
A transthoracic echocardiogram is a non-invasive ultrasound examination of the heart. During the examination, a cardiac sonographer uses an ultrasound probe and gel to obtain images of the heart from different positions on the chest. Small ECG electrodes may also be placed on your chest to monitor heart rhythm during imaging.
